Divorce

• You or your spouse must be a resident of Texas for the last six months in order to file for a divorce in Texas
• A divorce can be granted in Texas as long as one spouse wants the divorce without any proof of fault in the break-up of the marriage
• Property acquired during a marriage is presumed to be community property even if purchased with the income of only one spouse
• Community property can be divided by a Judge in any manner the Judge believes is just and right
• After filing for divorce there is a sixty day waiting period before the divorce can be finalized
